The Lighthouse will lead the way....

I’m a woman of faith. Maybe it’s my attempt to have a mostly cheery disposition (shush), but I am not giving up on Lost. I know there are a lot of complainers out there; too many new questions, too many new Others. I’m not giving up yet. I’m just embracing Season 6 and trying to love every minute of it. Many, many years ago I remember hearing or reading that those random people you see every day, you know the person at Dunkin Donuts or the person in the car next to you on the same stretch of double-divided highway, are people you meant to see or know for some reason. I have always totally believed that. This idea lead to a discussion about this season and the “Alternate reality” (which btw Darlton is saying is not an alternate reality- hmmm to be discussed more later) School comrade Lisa says, that she believes that somehow everyone in the alternate reality is going to end up on the island anyway. Hmmm…. Friend Amy says that it’s okay for the Sideways world to be different because 815 never crashed, and maybe life before that changed as well. A total shift in the timeline.

Quick thoughts from this past episode:
1. Jack mentioned to Hurley that he saw his dead father on the island- I wondered if this made Hurley think about all the dead people that he sees? Back in the cave, Adam and Eve- must be important. Love Hurley wondering if it could be them from another time travelling time….hmmmm….

2. Jack wondering about his appendectomy scar…..hmmmm…..seems like he was thinking about it……

3. I miss the comic relief of Hurley in these serious episodes. How about Jacob telling Hurley to get Jack to go somewhere with him and Hurley’s response- “Have you ever tried to get Jack to do something?”

4. Crazy Freaking axe carrying Claire- with her crazy baby! What about when Jin tells her Kate has Aaron! Her response, “I would kill her!”

5. Claire’s recognition of the “Lockeness Monster” J as her “friend” was confirmation to me that Smokey was previously inhabiting the body of Christian Shepherd and that he was pretending to be Jacob as Christian back in the shack.

6. Sideways Jack has a son named David. Jack seemed doomed to repeat the sins of his father, but worked hard at the end to repair his relationship with this teen. Who is David’s mother? Was Julie Bowen just not available because she is now tied up as Claire on “Modern Family”? I think not- they didn’t tell us for a reason. Could it be Juliet? (Easter Egg- Jack found the key to David’s house under a rabbit statue.)

7. Lighthouse- WOW! Jacob has been watching, like Santa I guess. Kate’s name was on that dial and 108 was “Wallace”.

Now I want to hear your thoughts. Oh, but this is good too.

Jacob, is that you?

Don't have a lot of time to post before tonight's episode, "The Lighthouse" but I just read a few interesting things over at Doc Jensen at EW.

Not too spoilery- but he definitely makes you think

and I'm especially intrigued by his reference to the episode where we saw Richard visit Locke as a child and present him with the items- remember Richard asked him to pick the one that belonged to him- and he picked the knife, and Richard freaked! A precursor to Smokey.....

Look left, look right.....

Sorry, I've been remiss in posting as promised. Vacation business got a hold of me, and as Tom Hanks said in You've Got Mail, "I've had a project that needed some.....tweaking" I've been super busy doing a million things- but I'm back and we've got LOST to discuss.

WARNING- This post is a little disjointed, but I'm sure you peeps will understand:)

First and foremost, "What Kate Does" - So raise your hand if you thought Sayid had been inhabited by Jacob? Apparently, no as Mr. Ohno and Lennon had to "test" him. He's infected, with a darkness=smoke monster? (Lots of irony to see the torturer being tortured.) Very interesting to see the pill that Mr. Ohno created and that Dr. Jack was supposed to administer to Sayid. Hold on a minute- that pill looks familiar? I know them as veggie pills and take two of those a day- is my gym trainer trying to kill me?

Claire has also been infected, a la why she has morphed into trap-setting Rousseau. (And both women gave birth on the island and lost their babies) I will say that I find this twist intriguing. I really thought Claire was dead, which is why she was in the "shack" with Christian/Jacob. But were all the times we (Jack) saw Christian was he really the Smoke Monster.

This past week's, "The Substitute"-

What's the deal with these Flash sideways- why are they different? Why are people's lives not as they were before? I assumed that we would see how life would've been if Flight 815 had arrived at LAX, but it appears that life for the Losties was different before they left too. (Hurley saying he's the luckiest guy in the world. Rose works for Hurley- I didn't think she even lived in L.A.)

Locke was definitely not with Helen [ :)] when he left on his walkabout. He was with her awhile back when he got obsessed with his dad. And they were going to invite his long-con dad to their wedding. How was he injured, if not by his dad?

Mommy, Esq is bothered by watching a Locke sideways story where he really is Locke and then an island story where he is no longer our Locke. I enjoy calling him "Faux Locke" or the also enjoyable "Flocke"- but I propose to you a third name that is also meaningful- "UnLocke"

How creepy was UnLocke travelling the island as his smoke monster self and the reflection we could see of that in the window at Sawyer's house in New Otherton? (PS- that metallic chugging sound that we hear when we see the Smoke Monster, is the same sound I heard in the car wash today. I half expected to see some swirling smoke and my life flashing before my eyes- eek!)
Do we love Sawyer's drunken/despondent acceptance of Locke's appearance? Is Sawyer the new Locke, as he blindly follows UnLocke around the island?

The climb down to the cave was crazy/ Names on the ceiling- I of course deleted the episode after I only got to watch the scene once with my TiVo slowmotion. Are these the same names as on "the list", and if so why no Kate? Could this whole thing possibly just be about finding the next Jacob? (is that who that was little blond kid running around the island messing with UnLocke's head) I feel a great reality show coming on, "Lost Island's Next Jacob Top Idol".

Other favorite parts of the episode- I loved crazy-eyed Richard running away from UnLocke/Smoke Monster who could easily catch him. I love when he stumbled out of the brush to tell Sawyer that they needed to run back to the temple for safety. I'm really looking forward to his back story. Locke's funeral, with Sun, Lapidus, and Ben of all people. Ben apologizing for murdering him and Lapidus' saying, "worst funeral I've ever been to." Oh and I almost forgot- Ben turning out to be Dr. Linus at the school Locke is substituting at. Love the grumbling about the coffee filter- very much like the grumbling about missing forks in the Killam staff room...:)

In casting news:

Apparently Maggie Grace's Shannon is back in- a day later and dollar short for me. She belonged on that plane arguing with Boone. I'm not sure I need to see her now. How about you?

Next week- "The Lighthouse"- Hmmm.....wasn't that the name of the place in LA where we saw Ellie, Daniel Farraday's mother?

Place holder

February vacation has finally come- ahhhhhh.....

I know all of you non-teacher people think we get way too many vacations and why do we need another so soon, blah, blah, blah- I can guarantee you that it always come just in time to air out all the germs in the building and hopefully recharge our batteries. And my kids have drained my batteries dry.

On that note- I am off to NH for a few days, and will return on Sunday with a fabulous post that I will be composing while relaxing, and not skiing, up there.

Did episode 6.03- "What Kate Does" do it for you?

HBS out

BINGO!

I've been checking in with as many of my real life Lost friends and have a few more tidbits I would like to share or discuss.

*Different realities- it is my personal opinion that the two different realities will not last the entire season, but part of it. I'm totally torn over which reality will win out....Island or no Island?

*When Juliet told Sawyer (via Miles) that, "it worked", what do you think that meant? Was she just heading to the beyond or did she know something.....I don't believe we've seen the last of Juliet. (But she better not die again!)

*There was a big discussion at school about the size and length of chain that Hurley's VW van was carrying. And how the can could never have been able to pull off the stuff. According to several sources (no one apparently more fired up then the best captain of the best boat I know), that size and weight of chain would never be able to be sustained by the piddly engine of the Dharma vehicle. I will admit, that this whole piece went right over my head, but in order to continue to love this show, sometimes we have to suspend our disbelief:)

*Did you know that Jimmy Kimmel is a HUGE Lost fan? I totally forgot to tape his show last Tuesday, but Josie and Tom to the rescue. I have yet to see this yet, but according to Darlton there were some things that were "just coincidences". Don't buy it- nothing is a coincidence on this show!

*I mentioned in my last post that reborn of the sacred water Sayid must now be Jacob. Darlton wasn't so sure. There was that piece that it was obvious that Miles couldn't read or hear his thoughts- so was he dead?

Finally- my February vacation is coming up in a week (can I hear an A-men) and I found the perfect thing to do when watching the February 23rd episode.

I wish I still lived at Washington Crossing and could have you all over to the movie theater, as I did in 2006, for a little round of bingo:)

Oh and so you can plan ahead- the finale has been set for Sunday, May 23rd. 9-11 pm

W-O-W!

W-O-W!

Answers- yup we got some. Action- yes, definitely. A couple alternate realities- yup, that too.

Did you like the reappearance of all the old gang? Arzt? Cindy the flight attendant? Frogurt? Rose and Bernard? Was it a little too, "Gilligan's Island Christmas Special" as pointed out by my good buddy Josie?

Let's get too it-

1. The Kids are at "the temple" with Cindy the flight attendant. Jack and gang is now there too, with the group I'm going to dub "the Other Others".

2. The Man in Black- the long enemy of Jacob, is now in the body of Locke and he in fact is the Smoke Monster. (This makes me think Locke's interaction with the Smoke Monster early on in Season 1- did something happen even then?) I'm also wondering if this could mean that Ben could never control the smoke monster as we once thought.

3. Reference to Richard having been in chains- he was a slave? and came on the Black Rock?

4. Two realities- if the bomb went off, and the reboot happen- 815 makes it to LA or the bomb went off and they are still there. How freaky/cool was the island now under water? And did you catch the Dharma Shark- remember from the Hydra?

5. The life and death of Juliet- how many times did we see Juliet die, again?(From Melissa) Why give us her back for five minutes? Why not run her to the temple and drop her in the muddy water that resurrected Sayid? (from Ann)

6. Sayid was dead (?) and now has arisen- the water of the temple healed him- but why was it dirty? My personal thought- it was bloody because Jacob had been killed. Sayid is alive, but he is no longer Sayid- is he now Jacob? Did you remember (cause I didn't) that when little Ben Linus was shot last season and brought to the temple, Richard said he would save him, but he would never be the same.....

Sorry so short, but I'm overtired from the three hours and way too many commercials of last night- more tomorrow

Your thoughts, please!

33 minutes....

Quick post- much to be discussed tomorrow

I am of course beyond excited for tonight- just realized tonight is a 3 hour commitment and am suddenly wishing that I had taken tomorrow off:)

Currently watching the recap episode-lots of great reminder stuff, and if you were listening very carefully many of my quotes have been mentioned

1. Charlie- (The British and the French have had long issues in history, but Charlie was happy to think that Rousseau's looping message was to be their savior.)

2. Arzt (the high school science teacher who told the Losties about weather patterns and monsoon season, and was basically the sacrificial Star Trek ensign)

3. Sawyer, after reading all the letters that people had sent on the raft

4. Locke- obvy

5. Mr. Happy- the fake bearded Other who took Walt and confronted Jack

6. Sayid- to Sun and Jin- when they made their way to the other side of the island in Desmond's sail boat and first saw the four-toed statue

7. Des

8. Miss Klugh (Other) and Jack (Lame storyline to explain Jack's real life tattoos)

9. Sawyer and Hurley

10. Daniel Farraday

11. Locke and Ben (ha, time travelling bunnies)

Stacey- you were the only one who posted a try, so you win:)

Mon- I believe the Charlotte situation was one they kind of realized that they flubbed and tried to go back and fix. Her age on the show and the actress's age definitely didn't jive.
